Mechanics
The following are the specific rules that are used over the vanilla rules for D&D 2014. Some of these are imports from D&D 2024, or 5.5e. If they seem familiar, now you know why! :D
Rolling for Hit Points above 1st Level
When determining hit points upon levelling up your character, reroll 1s if rolling.
Inspiration
Inspiration is given freely and liberally. At the start of session, you have Inspiration that you can use for any attack roll, skill check, or saving throw. You must declare before rolling that you're using your inspiration.
If you do not have inspiration, you can gain it by rolling a Natural 1, or if I think your luck is bad that session.
For roleplays that occur inbetween sessions that may require a roll, you gain 1 inspiration for the duration of the roleplay. You will still regain an inspiration if you roll a Natural 1, but I will not give any inspiration during roleplay.
Casting a Spell
On a turn, you can expend only one spell slot to cast a spell.
Examples:
- You can't cast a spell with a spell slot using an action and another one using a Bonus Action on the same turn.
- If your spell is being counterspelled, you cannot counterspell in return.
- You cannot use Action Surge to cast two spells using a spell slot in a turn.
